🏰 Icewind Castle: Anti-Lag + New Strategy Paths

Icewind Castle has been optimized to play smoother during intense moments (especially when the area is crowded). Here’s what was changed:

  • Fixed anti-lag roof issue (the roof area could cause unnecessary lag for some players).
  • Added a couple more entries into the castle, enabling new strategies and routes.
  • Removed many castle objects to reduce load and improve overall performance.
Result:
Smoother movement, fewer FPS drops, and cleaner fights in Icewind Castle.

📈 Master Level & Grand Reset Fixes

Fixed: “Next Master XP” becomes too big

A bug was causing the required XP for the next master level to become unreasonably high for some characters. This has been fixed so progression remains consistent and fair.

Removed: Master level reset on grand resets

Grand resets no longer reset your master level progress. This is a quality-of-life change that makes long-term character investment feel better.

Note:
This patch improves progression stability and prevents “progress loss” feelings after grand resets.

🐾 Pets & Item Fixes

Two annoying issues were resolved:

  • Fixed: super pets losing durability incorrectly.
  • Fixed: Volt IV sets missing options.

🛡️ Security & Antihack Updates

Multiple layers of protection were updated:

  • Updated antihack detections to prevent certain cheats more effectively.
  • Stricter bans for confirmed cheat behavior.
  • Improved buffer system and internal stability fixes.
  • Latest security updates applied (multiple waves across late January and early February).
Why this matters:
Better detection + faster action means a cleaner economy, fairer PvP, and more stable gameplay for everyone.

👹 Boss Updates: Boss of Darkness & Selupan

Boss logic and balance were improved for:

  • Boss of Darkness (now stronger).
  • Selupan (updated behavior / fixes).
Tip:
If you previously “auto-faced” Boss of Darkness, revisit your build and party strategy — the boss hits harder now.

🔌 Disconnects & Crashes: What Changed + What You Should Do

A deep investigation was done into rare disconnect (DC) and crash reports. Some fixes were added, but in certain cases the issue can be caused by a player’s PC / software / drivers (especially if it can’t be reproduced in testing).

If you still experience DC / crashes:
Please use these official guides to troubleshoot PC-side causes:

In addition, these were added as possible fixes for rare situations (some were hard to reproduce consistently):

  • Possible fix: sometimes DC / crash when using /reset auto.
  • Possible fix: rare DC issues with Crusader, Gunner, Illusion Knights, and Elfs.
  • Possible fix: rare DC on crowded spots.

✨ XP System Rework (Less Grind, Better Balance)

The XP system was completely reworked to improve the feel of progression:

  • Less XP needed overall to progress.
  • More balanced XP gains across content and levels.
  • All classes start with 4th quest from character creation (faster entry into the real gameplay loop).
Result:
Faster early progression, smoother mid-game, and less “XP wall” frustration.

⚙️ Performance & Formula Improvements

A lot of time went into improving calculations and server-side logic:

  • Improved performance across multiple formulas and systems.
  • Fixed: Nars level requirement issue (lvl req 700).
  • Improved buffers and additional stability fixes.

🧩 FAQ

Do these changes remove my progress?

No. These are fixes and balance updates. The goal is smoother gameplay and more consistent progression.

Is Boss of Darkness actually stronger now?

Yes — Boss of Darkness was explicitly made stronger. Re-evaluate your setup if it feels different.

I still disconnect sometimes — what now?

First, check the two troubleshooting guides linked above. If the issue persists, try testing different graphics drivers, disabling overlays, and reducing background software.

🚀 Final Note

These updates are built to deliver a better experience: cleaner fights, less lag, fair progression, and stronger security.

See you in Icewind Castle. ⚔️❄️
